Quartz is a popular type of countertop material due to its low-maintenance, high quality, and durable attributes that are perfect for kitchen and bath spaces. But, as a consumer, you have to be mindful of the type of quartz you are choosing for your home. It is very easy to mistake a low-grade quartz for a high-grade quartz.

But, there are some key differences between the two types of quartz that make them unique and we will tell you how to identify them. Educating our clients to understand these key differences in what makes these two types of quartz countertops, is essential due to the fact that the final buying price is only determined by the slab’s thickness, resin, color, pattern, and all the minerals it contains.

The understanding of the quartz material is important because as countertop providers, we want to ensure that our clients get the complete picture of the material’s durability and stone appearance. Here are the key differences between high-grade quartz and low-grade quartz.

High-Grade Quartz contains 93% quartz and 7% Tenax resin, which is manufactured in the United States, which also contribute to the other color pigments, high gloss and durability in the material. The machinery used to manufacture these types of quartz countertops is made from a Breton machine which is the most superior in the industry.

Low Grade Quartzcontains less quartz and inferior quality of resin and pigment. Local and unreliable machinery is used for manufacturing this type of material, which makes the material’s price cheaper and the quality very poor. Due to the low quality of the material, we do not recommend using this type of quartz for your space, due to the fact that it will wear and tear eventually and cause cracks within the surface easily.
